Bath resealing in Swettenham

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

About our bath resealing in Swettenham

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s water getting behind the bath or tray and an untidy old seal, we can help, on wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units alike.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Swettenham as everywhere else we work.

Swettenham: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK, so Swettenham is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Cheshire East and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What a repair cannot fix

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
