Bath resealing at your home in Tal-y-cafn

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. If you’re dealing with unsealed corners and mould you can’t clean out, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Tal-y-cafn: your questions answered

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Tal-y-cafn.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

Landlord and trade work in Tal-y-cafn

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

How we price bath resealing

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
