Bath resealing in Tang Hall, done in place
A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. If you’re dealing with gaps by the taps and black mould in the sealant, we can help.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Tang Hall: your questions answered
Is there any odour?
It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.
How long does silicone take to cure?
Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.
What do you need from me?
Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.
Do you cover the entire of York?
Everywhere in the UK, Tang Hall included. Travel is included in the price.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
What happens on the day
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It typically takes about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
- The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
- We make sure the joint is completely dry.
- For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
- We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.
How to prepare
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Make sure the area is dry
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Related advice
Looking after it afterwards
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Dry the seal after bathing
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.
Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
What bath resealing costs
A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- How much damage there is
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The material
- How many items we do on one visit
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Quotes from your pictures
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
Why reseal now?
Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Can I fix it myself?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.
