What a repair cannot fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Hidden water damage

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Bath resealing at your home in Tankerton

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s gaps in the seal and silicone smeared on tiles, we can usually put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and baths alike.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Resealing in Tankerton: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

The process

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

Advice

Common questions in Tankerton

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Are there extra charges for Tankerton?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Signs you need bath resealing in Tankerton

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Common reasons people in Tankerton contact us are:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting

What to look for in a quote

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What preparation is included
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
