Resealing in The Down: why it matters
Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
What you get with us

Bath resealing at your home in The Down
The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Typical jobs include silicone smeared on tiles and damp near the bath, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and baths.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in The Down and across Shropshire.

DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
Do you need bath resealing in The Down?
Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.
Look out for any of the following:
- An untidy old seal
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Unsealed corners
- Mould you cannot clean out
What to look for in a quote
- Whether they match the colour on site
- What happens if they find more damage
- What preparation is included
- How soon you can use it again

Landlords, agents and businesses in The Down
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Shropshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in The Down as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.
Questions from The Down
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.
Can you reseal over the old silicone?
Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
How quickly can you book me in?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Is there a call-out fee?
We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.
Do you cover the whole of Shropshire?
All of Shropshire, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.
What a repair can’t fix
Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Hidden water damage
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
Surfaces we repair
- Basins & vanity units
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Wet rooms
- Baths
How it works
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a couple of hours.
- We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
- We clean the joint and treat any mould.
- We ensure the joint is completely dry.
- We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
- New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.
Before we arrive
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Let us know which floor the room is on
Ask for a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Aftercare tips
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Let steam out after showers
Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
What bath resealing costs
Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- How hard the colour is to match
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The type of damage
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Getting a price from pictures
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- What it’s made of, if you know
- One picture of the entire bath or shower
To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
