Bath resealing at your home in Torquay

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Common call-outs are for silicone coming away from the tiles and old sealant that looks dirty, across basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Why reseal now?

Resealing costs very little. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What happens on the day

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes around two hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Prices and what affects them

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Torquay. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For a price in Torquay, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Honest limits

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
