Bath resealing in Treales without replacing anything

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. If you are dealing with discoloured, yellow sealant and water getting behind the bath or tray, we can usually put it right, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

What we do, step by step

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Open a window if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Related advice

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What bath resealing costs

There is no charge for travel to Treales. The price comes down to:

  • The type of damage
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Treales, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Why it’s worth resealing in Treales

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Air the room after use

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

What we’re called out for in Treales

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Damp near the bath
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
