Tregurrian: your questions answered

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Do you come to Tregurrian?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Tregurrian for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

What bath resealing costs

We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many items we do on one visit

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

For a price in Tregurrian, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • A flexing bath
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms

Landlord and trade work in Tregurrian

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

If you manage property in Tregurrian, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

Resealing in Tregurrian: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Work done at your home or business

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Air the room after use
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Keep the joints dry

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a couple of hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Getting a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
