Bath resealing in Trent

Bath resealing in Trent, done in place

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We’re often asked to fix discoloured, yellow sealant and an untidy old seal, on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Common questions in Trent

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do you come to Trent?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Trent and the rest of Dorset. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Are there extra charges for Trent?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What does bath resealing cost?

Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a couple of hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How we price bath resealing

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Trent, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Trent use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

When to call us in Trent

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Stained silicone

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • If travel is included in the price
