Trusted bath resealing in Rimpton

Bath resealing in Rimpton without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We regularly repair wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are discoloured, yellow sealant and gaps by the taps.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What bath resealing costs

There’s no charge for travel to Rimpton. The price comes down to:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Access to the area
  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a couple of hours.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Landlords, agents and businesses in Rimpton

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

10 questions to ask before you book

Rimpton: your questions answered

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
