Bath resealing for Udny Station homes

Bath resealing in Udny Station, done in place

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. Common call-outs are for a messy previous reseal and black mould in the sealant, in baths, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Questions from Udny Station

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower typically takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

You’ll get the curing time from us, usually around a day.

Do you cover Udny Station?

We do. We send a technician to Udny Station for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes around two hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

What bath resealing costs

We don’t charge extra for travel to Udny Station. The price comes down to:

  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • What it’s made of, if you know

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Signs you need bath resealing in Udny Station

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Let steam out after showers

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
