When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths

Bath resealing in Upper Hackney, done in place

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Common call-outs are for an untidy old seal and unsealed corners, on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Upper Hackney and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Resealing in Upper Hackney: why it matters

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Air the room after use
  • Use the extractor fan

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

FAQs for Upper Hackney

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

What affects the price in Upper Hackney

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many items we do on one visit

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Upper Hackney. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
