Questions from Valley Truckle

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone will not bond to old.

Do you cover Valley Truckle?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Valley Truckle from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

About our bath resealing in Valley Truckle

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Common call-outs are for stained silicone and leaks at the edges, across shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Use the extractor fan

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Valley Truckle, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll price them together.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes a couple of hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

When to call us in Valley Truckle

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

What to look for in a quote

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • What preparation is included
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How soon you can use it again

What we can’t put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
