When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Victoria: your questions answered

Do you hold any accreditations?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Are there extra charges for Victoria?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Signs you need bath resealing in Victoria

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

People usually call us after spotting one of these:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps in the seal
  • An untidy old seal
  • Stained silicone

What to look for in a quote

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How to care for the finish
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

How to compare quotes

Prices and what affects them

You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the pictures on your phone, there is no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath or shower, we can give you a fixed price.

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take around two hours. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Landlord and trade work in Victoria

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Victoria use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Victoria customers choose us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • No extra charge for your area

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.
