About our bath resealing in Washfold
All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. If you are dealing with mould you can’t clean out and gaps in the seal, we can typically put it right, on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units alike.
Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

How it works
On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes around two hours. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.
- We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
- Old sealant and residue are removed.
- We clean, treat and dry the joint.
- We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
How to prepare
- Clear the area around the damage
- Make sure the area is dry
- Keep a parking space free if you can

What a repair can’t fix
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:
- Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
- A flexing bath
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Why it’s worth resealing in Washfold
Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Why Washfold clients choose us

Common questions in Washfold
Is the work guaranteed?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
What happens after I send photos?
You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.
Do you seal over the old sealant?
We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone won’t bond to old.
Do you come to Washfold?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Washfold and the rest of North Yorkshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Can you quote from pictures?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.
Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?
Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.
Is it messy?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
My seal keeps tearing. Why?
The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Open a window after bathing
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Give the seal a regular clean
Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.
Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
What bath resealing costs
A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The material
- How many items we do on one visit
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Getting a price from pictures
Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:
- A photo taken from further back
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- What it’s made of, if you know
Email us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Washfold, and we will come back with a fixed quote.
