Bath resealing in Water Eaton

How we price bath resealing

We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • The type of damage

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are generally enough. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Bath resealing in Water Eaton, done in place

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. Common call-outs are for gaps in the seal and mould you can’t clean out, on basins & vanity units, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Water Eaton use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

10 questions to ask before booking

Water Eaton questions

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How long will it take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

How long before I can shower?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

How it works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes about two hours for a bath. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.
