Bath resealing in Water End

Bath resealing at your home in Water End

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, so the seal doesn’t tear when the bath is first used. If you’re dealing with water getting behind the bath or tray and black spots in the silicone, we can typically put it right, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks alike.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How we price bath resealing

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any details about the material
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Email us photos of the damage and one of the whole item, with your MK45 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Water End questions

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Do you cover Water End?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Water End. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How long does silicone take to cure?

We will give you the curing time.

Can you quote from pictures?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a couple of hours. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Landlord and trade work in Water End

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
