Questions from Water

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

How much does bath resealing cost in Water?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Water included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How long will it take?

Typically a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

Bath resealing in Water without replacing anything

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. Our technicians work on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people contact us are old sealant that looks dirty and leaks at the edges.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Signs you need bath resealing in Water

Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Stained silicone
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How long it needs to cure

How to compare quotes

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What you get with us

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
