How we handle bath resealing in Wentworth
We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We work on baths, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most frequently call us about damp near the bath and silicone smeared on tiles.
All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

For landlords and businesses
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Cambridgeshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Aftercare tips
Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:
- Do not stand toiletries on the seal
- Dry the seal after bathing
- Use the extractor fan
- Give the seal a regular clean
Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Questions from Wentworth
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Cambridgeshire.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.
Can tenants book a repair?
We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
How long does resealing take?
A bath or shower generally takes a couple of hours. Leave it to cure before use.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
The process
Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes about two hours for a bath, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
- Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
- The joint is dried thoroughly.
- For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
- We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.
How to prepare
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Have a window or extractor fan available
Ask for a price
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
Related advice
Different materials, different repairs
Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.
Baths
We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.
How we price bath resealing
There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- The type of damage
- Access to the area
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
Quotes from your pictures
When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Details of any past repairs
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
Is resealing worth it?
Resealing costs very little. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
