Bath resealing near Wharfe

What affects the price in Wharfe

We charge the same across the UK, including Wharfe. The price reflects:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

How we handle bath resealing in Wharfe

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. Whether it’s sealant that’s split or lifting and a messy previous reseal, we can help, whatever the material.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Wharfe and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes about two hours for a bath. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Common questions in Wharfe

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

How long will it take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How long before I can shower?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

How much does bath resealing cost in Wharfe?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before you book.
