Need bath resealing in Wylam?

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Bath resealing in Wylam without replacing anything

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. If you’re dealing with discoloured, yellow sealant and damp near the bath, we can typically put it right.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Wylam. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What affects the price in Wylam

You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • The material and finish

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed price

You can take the photos on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know

For a price in Wylam, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes around two hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Get a quote

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Air the room after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
