Bath resealing in Ynysboeth

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Bath resealing at your home in Ynysboeth

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they protect the walls and floor. Whether it’s sealant that’s split or lifting and damp near the bath, we can help, whatever the material.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing so mould struggles to take hold.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Resealing in Ynysboeth: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What you get with us

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

What affects the price in Ynysboeth

A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • The material
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Send us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, with your CF45 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Questions from Ynysboeth

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Can new silicone go over old?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Are there extra charges for Ynysboeth?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.
