Bath repair across CF45: what to expect
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We’re often asked to fix scratches you can feel with a fingernail and holes from dropped items, on acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.
Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.
Cost
Prices start from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What affects the price in CF45
Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to CF45. The price comes down to:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Access to the area
- Doing more than one item at once
- The type of damage
Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
Quotes from your pictures
You can take the photos on your phone. Just ensure we can see:
- Something in shot to show the size
- One picture of the entire bath
- Details of any past repairs
- Any details about the material
No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
How the damage happens
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- Chips on the rim or sides
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Chips under the taps
Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
Honest limits
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
Aftercare tips
It’s all simple stuff:
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Store metal items away from the bath
For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
