Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in the Scottish Borders
Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. Our technicians work on avocado, pampas and pink baths, whole bathroom suites and coloured shower trays, and the jobs we see most are a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and faded or patchy colour.
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a day or two, depending on how many items from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.
- We protect the room and ventilate it.
- Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
- We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
- Each item is left to cure, generally ready the day after.
Pricing in the Scottish Borders
Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire suite, we can price the job without visiting.
Landmarks near Galashiels
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Galashiels, Public House and Galashiels Academy. There’s a railway station in Galashiels itself: Galashiels station. Nearby you will also find Borders General Hospital (2.7 miles south-east) and Castle Holydean (4.4 miles south-east). Not far away are Eildon Mid Hill.
How the damage happens
Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s generally the colour that dates them, not the condition.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
- A suite that does not match a new bathroom
- Faded or patchy colour
- Selling or letting a home with an old suite
What coloured bath resurfacing costs
Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- How many areas need work
- The material
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How easy the damage is to reach
It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
Getting a price from photos
Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Ensure they show:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- A photo taken from further back
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
Should you replace it?
Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white without taking anything out.
What your quote should include
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- Whether the price covers travel
- Who turns up on the day
- What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
When we’d advise against a repair
A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:
- The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
- Items cracked right through
- Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)
Should I try a DIY kit first?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
the Scottish Borders: your questions answered
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Is there any odour?
It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.
Do you come to the Scottish Borders?
Yes. We work across the UK and travel to the Scottish Borders. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Can pets and children be at home?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.
Will it make a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.
