What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in California

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths

Coloured bath resurfacing in California, done in place

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. Common call-outs are for faded or patchy colour and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, on whole bathroom suites, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured basins.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

California: your questions answered

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can you do the toilet too?

Ask us. The inside of a bowl is always wet and scrubbed, so we’ll advise honestly before quoting.

What does coloured bath resurfacing cost?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you cover California?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to California and the rest of Birmingham. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What do you need from me?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

If you manage property in California, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Refinishing it in white changes the colour with everything left in place. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What you get with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • No need to remove anything

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

The process

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to one to two days for a full suite, tidy-up included.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. The surface is prepared and primed.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the suite, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Common problems we fix in California

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is normally the colour, not the bath.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom

Before you book anyone

  • How soon you can use it again
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How the colour is matched

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to California. The price comes down to:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • Access to the area

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

For a price in California, the easiest route is pictures: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
