Coloured bath resurfacing in New Zealand without replacing anything

Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there’s no plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. Our technicians work on coloured shower trays, whole bathroom suites and avocado, pampas and pink baths, and people most often call us about selling or letting a home with an old suite and a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow one to two days for a full suite from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Each item is left to cure, generally ready the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Related advice

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing turns it white with everything left in place. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

When to call us in New Zealand

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is usually the colour, not the bath.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Choosing a repair company

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in New Zealand as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What a repair can’t fix

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in New Zealand

  • Coloured basins
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured shower trays

What coloured bath resurfacing costs

Prices start from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
