Bath repair at your home in HP20

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Our technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and people most often call us about rust spots around the plughole and snagging damage from a refit.

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Cost

Our bath repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Have new chips seen to early

Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

How the damage happens

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Holes from dropped items

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to HP20. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Any details about the material
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
