Coloured bath resurfacing in New Zealand

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Coloured bath resurfacing in New Zealand without replacing anything

Most suites take one or two days. We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, with no new plumbing or tiling. Whether it’s selling or letting a home with an old suite and faded or patchy colour, we can help, whatever the material.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing changes the colour with everything left in place. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

FAQs for New Zealand

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can a coloured bath be made white?

Yes. It’s resurfaced in white where it stands.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Are there extra charges for New Zealand?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you cover New Zealand?

We do. We send a technician to New Zealand for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you need coloured bath resurfacing in New Zealand?

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s typically the colour that dates them, not the condition.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite

10 questions to ask before booking

When we would advise against a repair

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Coloured shower trays
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites

What happens on the day

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a day or two, depending on how many items, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the suite is ready.

Preparing for the visit

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for New Zealand. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the whole suite
  • Something in shot to show the size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
