What we can’t put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites

Coloured bath resurfacing in Parkhead without replacing anything

Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. A full suite is usually done in one to two days. If you’re dealing with a suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom and a dated coloured suite you’d like in white, we can help, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

The process

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a day or two, depending on how many items, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. The new white, or other colour, finish is sprayed on.
  5. Each item is left to cure, normally ready the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Coloured suites were fitted in huge numbers in the 1970s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is normally the colour, not the bath.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom

Choosing a repair company

Repairing versus replacing in Parkhead

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white changes the colour without taking anything out. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Parkhead

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Common questions in Parkhead

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

What affects the price in Parkhead

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • The material
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the entire suite

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.
