Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Pityme use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

If you manage property in Pityme, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Pityme

We resurface the bath, basin and tray in place, so there is no plumbing or tiling. Most suites take one or two days. Typical jobs include a dated coloured suite you’d like in white and selling or letting a home with an old suite, in coloured basins, avocado, pampas and pink baths and coloured shower trays.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right. Care for the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a day or two, depending on how many items. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean, degrease and repair any chips.
  3. We key the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Each item is left to cure, usually ready the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

When to call us in Pityme

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and plenty are still in good condition. The problem is typically the colour, not the bath.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • A suite that doesn’t match a new bathroom
  • Faded or patchy colour

Questions to ask before booking

  • How long it needs to cure
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Choosing a repair company

When we would advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Coloured basins
  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one means new sanitaryware, a plumber and a tiler. Resurfacing changes the colour without taking anything out. Our coloured bath resurfacing starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What coloured bath resurfacing costs

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Pityme. What changes the price is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • How much damage there is

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Common questions in Pityme

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Typically, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

What does coloured bath resurfacing cost?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your PL27 postcode.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
