Toilet chip repair at your home in Pityme

Leaking cracks need the toilet replacing, and we’ll tell you if that is what we find. We rebuild the damaged area and match it to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. Our technicians work on porcelain, pedestals and cisterns & lids, and people most often call us about pieces knocked off during fitting and marks on the outside of the pan.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back. Avoid dropping heavy items and use non-abrasive cleaners on the outside of the pan and cistern.

How it works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job typically takes one to two hours. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We start by cleaning and drying the damage.
  2. We fill and rebuild missing material to the original shape.
  3. We sand the repair level.
  4. We colour-match and finish the glaze.
  5. The repair is polished so it blends in.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What toilet chip repair costs

Prices start from £95. There is no charge for travel to Pityme. The price comes down to:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The size and number of damaged areas

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Where you are, by postcode

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a toilet means a plumber and sometimes new flooring around the pan, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. Repairing the chip keeps the toilet you have. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Pityme

  • No extra charge for your area
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

When to call us in Pityme

Most toilet chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted, or from a dropped lid or bottle. Cistern lids are a common casualty.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Chips on the pan or rim
  • Damage from dropped items
  • Pieces knocked off during fitting
  • Marks on the outside of the pan

What your quote should include

  • When it can be used again
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • If travel is included in the price
