How we price coloured bath resurfacing

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

You can take the photos on your phone. Just ensure we can see:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your CA2 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

How we handle coloured bath resurfacing in Raffles

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, so there is no plumbing or tiling. Whether it’s selling or letting a home with an old suite and faded or patchy colour, we can usually put it right, on coloured shower trays, whole bathroom suites and avocado, pampas and pink baths alike.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee. Treat it like any resurfaced bath: mild cleaners and no suction mats.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a day or two, depending on how many items.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease everything and fix chips.
  3. The surface is prepared and primed.
  4. We spray the new white (or other colour) finish.
  5. Each item is left to cure, usually ready the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice

What we’re called out for in Raffles

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. The problem is usually the colour, not the bath.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white
  • Faded or patchy colour

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

Replacing a coloured suite involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Refinishing it in white turns it white without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Everything repaired in place
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Most jobs done in one visit

See our pricing and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

When we would advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays
  • Coloured basins

Raffles questions

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Can you turn my avocado bath white?

Yes. We resurface it in white with it left in place.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.
