Common problems we fix in Stonydelph

Avocado, pampas and pink suites were everywhere in the 70s and 80s, and many are still sound. It’s usually the colour that dates them, not the condition.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Selling or letting a home with an old suite
  • Faded or patchy colour
  • A suite that does not match a new bathroom
  • A dated coloured suite you’d like in white

How to compare quotes

Coloured bath resurfacing at your home in Stonydelph

Most suites take one or two days. Everything is resurfaced where it stands, with no new plumbing or tiling. We regularly repair avocado, pampas and pink baths, coloured shower trays and coloured basins, and the jobs we see most are faded or patchy colour and selling or letting a home with an old suite.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work. Look after the new finish like a re-enamelled bath: gentle cleaners, no suction mats.

Landlord and trade work in Stonydelph

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Stonydelph as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping a coloured suite for a white one involves a plumber, a tiler and new taps. Resurfacing changes the colour without taking anything out. Prices start from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What a repair can’t fix

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • The inside of a toilet bowl, unless we’ve agreed it will last
  • Items cracked right through
  • Fittings and taps (these are masked, not recoloured)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Whole bathroom suites
  • Coloured basins
  • Avocado, pampas and pink baths
  • Coloured shower trays

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take one to two days for a full suite, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. The room is protected and ventilated.
  2. Each item is cleaned, degreased and any chips repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new finish in white or your chosen colour.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the suite is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Stonydelph. What changes the price is:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole suite, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
