Wood floor repair in The Chart

When a repair is not the answer

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Laminate swollen along the joints by water
  • Boards that have lifted or warped
  • Underfloor damage

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we work on in The Chart

  • Laminate flooring
  • Engineered wood
  • Wood-effect vinyl (ask us)
  • Solid wood

About our wood floor repair in The Chart

We repair damaged boards in place, matched to the colour and grain. Laminate swollen by water cannot be repaired, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case. Typical jobs include scratches from furniture and pets and chipped board edges, in solid wood, engineered wood and laminate flooring.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit. Use felt pads under furniture and wipe up spills promptly.

How the visit works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job usually takes a few hours. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned.
  2. Dents, chips and gouges are filled.
  3. We level the repair to the board surface.
  4. We match the colour and grain by hand.
  5. Finally we match the sheen of the floor.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

What wood floor repair costs

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Access to the area
  • How much damage there is
  • The material

Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Repairing versus replacing in The Chart

Replacing a board often means lifting boards to reach it, sourcing a matching board and laying it all again. Repairing it works with the boards in place. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

The Chart: your questions answered

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in The Chart.

Can scratched laminate be fixed?

Yes. We fill and colour-match scratches and chips.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

  • Gouges from moving appliances
  • Chipped board edges
  • Dents from dropped items
  • Burns

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
