Need non-slip bath coating in Chafford Hundred?

Non-slip bath coating in Chafford Hundred, done in place

It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. It’s a clear, textured coating, so the bath looks much the same. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, enamelled baths and resurfaced baths, and people most frequently call us about a bath or tray that is slippery when wet and worn-out textured areas.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Do not use abrasive pads on the textured area.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

When to call us in Chafford Hundred

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet with soap and water on them they become slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten

Comparing quotes

  • How the colour is matched
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • What preparation is included

10 questions to ask before booking

Prices and what affects them

Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How much damage there is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Any details about the material
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Chafford Hundred questions

Can you quote from pictures?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

When a repair is not the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Shower trays
  • Enamelled baths

The process

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. Once it has cured, normally overnight, it’s ready.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower tray, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A coating treats your existing bath or tray. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
