Non-slip bath coating in Cockwells

Non-slip bath coating in Cockwells without replacing anything

It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. The coating is clear and textured, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, resurfaced baths and enamelled baths, and people most frequently call us about worn-out textured areas and safety for older or less mobile people.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Avoid scourers on the coating.

Prices and what affects them

Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage
  • How much damage there is
  • What the surface is made of

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower tray

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Cockwells

Instead, you could go for a new textured bath or tray, or relying on a mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A non-slip coating treats your existing bath or tray. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Shower trays
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Enamelled baths
  • Wet room floors (ask us)

Cockwells: your questions answered

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Will a non-slip coating change how my bath looks?

Very little: it shows as a matt area where you stand.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no obligation to book.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Cockwells included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

What we are called out for in Cockwells

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, but wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet

Questions to ask before you book

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What prep work is covered
  • Aftercare advice
  • If travel is included in the price

How to compare quotes

Landlords, agents and businesses in Cockwells

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by degreasing the area where you stand.
  2. Next we mask off the area.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally overnight.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
