DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

Non-slip bath coating in Liquo without replacing anything

It suits homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. Common call-outs are for worn-out textured areas and a bath or tray that is slippery when wet, across enamelled baths, resurfaced baths and acrylic baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Avoid scourers on the coating.

Questions from Liquo

Do you come to Liquo?

We do. We send a technician to Liquo for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of North Lanarkshire. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Is a non-slip bath easy to clean?

Yes. Use a soft brush and a mild cleaner.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

How we price non-slip bath coating

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Send pictures for a quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A picture taken from further back

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Common problems we fix in Liquo

Smooth surfaces are easy to clean, but wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.

The things customers normally mention when they call are:

  • Safety for older or less mobile people
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What prep work is covered
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

How to compare quotes

Why repair rather than replace?

The alternatives are replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or a bath mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A non-slip coating adds grip to the bath you have. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by degreasing the area where you stand.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. The clear textured coating is applied.
  4. The masking comes off to leave a neat edge.
  5. Once it has cured, normally overnight, it’s ready.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.
