How we handle non-slip bath coating in The Banks

The coating is clear and textured, so the bath looks much the same. It’s popular with homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. We are frequently asked to fix safety for older or less mobile people and resurfaced baths that are now too smooth, in enamelled baths, resurfaced baths and wet room floors (ask us).

Every job is backed for twelve months in The Banks and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Don’t use abrasive pads on the textured area.

When to call us in The Banks

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet with soap and water on them they become slippery. Textured areas on older baths wear smooth too.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A bath or tray that is slippery when wet
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

Landlord and trade work in The Banks

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Shower trays
  • Wet room floors (ask us)

Why repair rather than replace?

The alternatives are replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A coating adds grip to the bath you have. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. Next we mask off the area.
  3. The clear textured coating is applied.
  4. We lift the masking for a clean edge.
  5. The coating is left to cure before use, usually overnight.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

What non-slip bath coating costs

Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

For a price in The Banks, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
