How we handle non-slip bath coating in Van

It suits homes with older or less mobile people, holiday lets and families. It’s a clear, textured coating, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. Typical jobs include bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten and resurfaced baths that are now too smooth, across enamelled baths, shower trays and resurfaced baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are covered after the visit. A soft brush and mild cleaner keep it clean. Avoid scourers on the coating.

What happens on the day

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We put on the clear non-slip coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. The coating is left to cure before use, generally overnight.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Related advice

Van: your questions answered

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Will I see the coating?

Very little: it shows as a matt area where you stand.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Which areas do you work in?

The whole UK, including all of Caerphilly. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What affects the price in Van

We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Why repair rather than replace?

Instead, you could go for a new textured bath or tray, or a bath mat, which traps water and needs cleaning. A non-slip coating treats your existing bath or tray. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What we are called out for in Van

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, yet wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Safety for older or less mobile people
