About our non-slip bath coating in Victoria Park

It’s popular with older people, families and holiday lets. The coating is clear and textured, so it shows only as a slightly matt area where you stand. We regularly repair acrylic baths, shower trays and enamelled baths, and people most frequently call us about worn-out textured areas and a bath or tray that is slippery when wet.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Victoria Park and across Edinburgh. Clean with a soft brush and a mild cleaner. Avoid scourers on the coating.

Victoria Park questions

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Should you replace it?

Instead, you could go for replacing the bath or tray with a textured one, or relying on a mat that needs lifting and cleaning. A coating treats your existing bath or tray. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why us?

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. You can expect it to take a morning or an afternoon.

  1. First the standing area is cleaned and degreased.
  2. The area to be treated is masked out.
  3. We apply the clear textured coating.
  4. We remove the masking for a neat edge.
  5. We leave it to cure, usually overnight.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Victoria Park as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

How we price non-slip bath coating

There’s no area surcharge for Victoria Park. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Surfaces that are already damaged or peeling (these need repairing first)
  • Textured areas still wet or recently cleaned with oily products
  • Outdoor surfaces

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet room floors (ask us)
  • Shower trays
  • Enamelled baths
  • Resurfaced baths
  • Acrylic baths

Signs you need non-slip bath coating in Victoria Park

Baths and trays are made smooth so they’re easy to clean, but wet, soapy surfaces are slippery. The textured patch on an older bath also wears down over time.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Bath mats that harbour mould or get forgotten
  • Worn-out textured areas
  • Resurfaced baths that are now too smooth
  • Safety for older or less mobile people

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
