Bath repair across AL1: what to expect
Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a smooth, solid repair that blends in. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We’re often asked to fix chips caused by builders and a chipped rim or side, across whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding.
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Prices in AL1

Open spaces near St Albans include The Wick Local Nature Reserve and Verulamium Lake.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
What affects the price in AL1
Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:
- Access to the area
- How many items we do on one visit
- How many areas need work
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
Quotes from your photos
Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- The material, if you know it
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.
Why repair rather than replace?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Landlords, agents and businesses in AL1
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.
AL1: your questions answered
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.
Can pets and children be at home?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
What does bath repair cost?
Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before you book.
Do you charge for travel?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Yes. We remove the old filler and start again. Mention it when you send photos.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Often, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.
