Bath repair at your home in BA9
A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include holes from dropped items and deep scratches in acrylic, in acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and whirlpool & spa baths.
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which generally takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the following day.
Prices in BA9
Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Why choose Surface Doctor
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- A fixed quote before booking
- We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
- Colour mixed on the day to match
How to get a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
What’s near Wincanton
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Former Congregational Church, The Nog Inn and King Arthur's Community School and the streets around them. Wincanton’s nearest station is Templecombe station, about 3.7 miles south of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Ballands Castle (3 miles north-east). Green spaces nearby include Aaron's Hill.
Signs you need bath repair
Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.
Contact us if you’ve noticed:
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
- Holes from dropped items
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:
- Access to the area
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Doing more than one item at once
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Send pictures for a quote
Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:
- Details of any past repairs
- Any details about the material
- One picture of the whole bath
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
Most customers in BA9 get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
How to look after the repair
To keep it looking its best:
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.
Honest limits
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
FAQs for BA9
Will you leave a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
