Bath repair at your home in BT1

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. Most baths can be used again the next day. Common call-outs are for scratches you can feel with a fingernail and chips caused by builders, on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

What you will pay

Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for BT1. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including BT1. The price reflects:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Send pictures for a quote

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

What we are called out for in BT1

The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Chips under the taps

Questions from BT1

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Usually, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
