About bath repair in CH65

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Our technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people contact us are impact holes in acrylic and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the day after.

Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

What a repair can’t fix

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Common questions in CH65

How long does the repair take to cure?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we have done.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can you redo an old repair?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes CH65. Our prices are the same everywhere.
