How bath repair works in CO11
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We are often asked to fix chips under the taps and chips along the edge of the bath, in acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.
Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes two to three hours for most chips, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the day after.
What it costs in CO11
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
What you get with us
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
- Normally one visit, start to finish
- Everything repaired in place

What’s near Lawford
We visit homes around Highfields Primary School, The Red Lion Public House and Manningtree High School. For rail, the closest station is Manningtree station, roughly 0.7 miles north-west. Other landmarks nearby include The Munnings Museum (2.4 miles west) and Little Wenham Castle (5 miles north). Not far away are Cattawade Marshes and Alton Water.
How to care for the repair
Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and it can start to leak underneath.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- What the surface is made of
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Doing more than one item at once
- The size and number of damaged areas
We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Getting a price from pictures
Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:
- The material, if you know it
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.
Why repair rather than replace?
Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. A repair keeps it in place.
Questions to ask before you book
- If travel is included in the price
- How to look after the finish
- What happens if they find more damage
- What preparation is included
Should I try a DIY kit first?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
What we’re called out for in CO11
The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
Customers generally contact us about:
- A hole punched through by something heavy
- Damage beneath the taps
- A chipped rim or side
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
Questions from CO11
What do you need from me?
Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you repair a hole in a bath?
Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
Can you fix rust around the plughole?
Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
What happens if you find more damage?
We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
What does bath repair cost?
Prices start from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.
