How bath repair works in DD3

We’ve repaired just about every kind of bath damage: dropped-bottle chips, plughole rust, acrylic cracks and impact holes. Each is repaired in place. We work on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are scratches you can feel with a fingernail and snagging damage from a refit.

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes a morning or an afternoon in most cases. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

What you will pay

Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for DD3. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Repair or replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead.

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Aftercare advice
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

What we’re called out for in DD3

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex until it cracks.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Chips under the taps
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
