Bath repair at your home in DN10
A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can normally use the bath the next day. Common call-outs are for rust by the waste and overflow and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes two to three hours for most chips in most cases. We leave the room clean.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, typically the following day.
Cost
Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.
Why choose Surface Doctor
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- Free fixed quotes from pictures
- No need to remove anything
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
Getting a price
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.
Around Bawtry
Typical jobs here are in homes near The Station Hotel, Bawtry Mayflower Primary School and Church of St Nicholas. Nearby you’ll also find Hospital of St Mary Magdalene (under half a mile south-west) and Tickhill Castle (3.7 miles west).
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath costs more than the bath itself: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit.

How to look after the repair
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
- Have new chips seen to early
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.
Honest limits
Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:
- Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
- A steel bath rusted through

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.
DN10 questions
What happens after I send pictures?
We come back with a fixed quote. You’re under no obligation.
Can you repair a failed DIY repair?
Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send photos.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.
Is the work guaranteed?
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
What do you need from me?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.
