Bath repair near Mattersey Thorpe

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

About our bath repair in Mattersey Thorpe

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. Our repair technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and impact holes in acrylic.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colour-matched on site
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

See our prices page and bath cost comparison.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Common questions in Mattersey Thorpe

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Are there extra charges for Mattersey Thorpe?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit.

If you manage property in Mattersey Thorpe, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

There is nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What affects the price in Mattersey Thorpe

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Mattersey Thorpe. What changes the price is:

  • How much damage there is
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Mattersey Thorpe. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
