Bath repair at your home in DT1

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the next day. There’s no need to book a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. Typical jobs include holes from dropped items and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, in whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel.

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the day after.

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Around Dorchester

Typical jobs here are in homes near The Sydney Arms, The Thomas Hardye School and The Thomas Hardye School. Also close by are Damers First School (0.6 miles west) and Church of St Mary (under half a mile south-east). Dorchester has its own railway station: Dorchester West station. Well-known places in the area include Dorset County Hospital (under half a mile east) and Tutankhamun Exhibition (within half a mile north-east). Open spaces near Dorchester include Black Down.

How the damage happens

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Chips under the taps
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

When we’d advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Any details about the material

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

DT1: your questions answered

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

How long before I can use the bath?

Most baths can be used the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.
