Bath repair across DT2: what to expect

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Typical jobs include deep scratches in acrylic and snagging damage from a refit, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

What you’ll pay

Our bath repair starts from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.

Common problems we fix in DT2

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

What affects the price in DT2

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We will say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Honest limits

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Your questions about bath repair in DT2

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Are you accredited?

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Often, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Typically within a day, depending on the repair.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
